Prodigal Benazir- Daughter of the East or Daughter of Destiny

After watching TV news channels for last two days and surfing through all the national newspapers, I couldn’t resist myself from writing on Benazir. Many columnists have written so many things about her. Karan Thapar, Barkha Dutta, Prabhu Chawla and many from Indian media had engaged her in wonderful interviews on their channels.
I view Benazir as the most visible and exemplary brave political leader of the region. She was certainly one of the smartest among the younger generation. Her death has proved that she was one of the bravest also.
It is unfortunate that since its independence, India has seen her neighbourhood turning politically so unstable and messy. Every Indian must realize and appreciate this. When we look around India, we find Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Burma, and Ceylon and all of them are in political turmoil. And who could be loser only the people who happen to be there. One can appreciate the rise of India better as democratic country and powerful too under these circumstances. Unfortunately, India with its huge internal problems can’t play a decisive role in improving the political turmoil of the neighbours as that is very sensitive issue. In comparison China is lucky and that also plays a part in its success story.
China and USA together have been aiding and facilitating the political heads (not the people there) of Pakistan over the years to grow stronger, more so against India. And all that has culminated in this assassination.
Benazir very lately has been giving an image of a maturing leader and she could have brought some welcome change in the region. Alas that will not happen. With growing fundamentalism we hardly know what is going to come next moment.
Let her soul rest in peace.
