NOIDA- Belated Happy Birthday

Not many will believe Noida is part of Uttar Pradesh.

It started on April 17, 1976, when UP set up the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority in Bulandshahr. DTC’s bus No. 300 started plying to connect the Capital to the suburbia. If DTC plied, then this could be Delhi, so went the logic.

Noida is thus 30, and as I am resident of Noida, I am of proud the fact.

The 18-hole golf course came up in 1980. The defence personnel moved into multistorey apartments across 20,000 hectares of Noida. And today even Delhites are envy of malls and multiplexes, and then entertainment complexes in and near the Sector 18 rather everywhere.

And what all Noida has- a little bit of everything or the best in NCR. Film City with studios and facilities in 98,000 sq m. Companies - from Adobe to Xanxa. Noida or Gautam Budh Nagar- all the same
In Emergency year 1976, when Sanjay Gandhi thought up an industrial suburb, land was going at Rs 120 per sq m and people were unwilling. Now the person who claims to be an engineer is building a house in plot next to mine. He tells me he bought the land at Rs 56,000 per square metre. Can you believe it? He also asked if I knew the land price in Sector 18 was the highest in world. So my wife is crorepati with no money in hand. And perhaps with Metro coming very near to our house, the price will further escalate. Yamuna’ s decision to shift to Noida was just right.

Long Live Noida! Be a hot Bangalore. I mean as hot in realty price and IT facilities as Bangalore.
