Celebrities- How Much We Know?

Recently I came across information about some great men of their time. I shall like to share them. Somewhere it reflects their greatness.
Albert Einstein pledged his prize money as part of the divorce settlement with his first wife Mileva who raised their kids, well in advance of receiving the prize.

C. V. Raman booked his passage to Stockholm to ensure his attendance at the prize ceremony much before the prize was announced.

How were they so confident of getting the Prize?

And hereis an incident from the life of the Great General. General Manekshaw would often go for a walk in the evening towards the officers’ transit camp in Jammu. On one such visit, he came across a young officer returning from leave and struggling with his luggage. On finding him in a spot, Sam Bahadur, as he was lovingly called, then in his civvies, promptly helped the officer carry his bags to the transit camp. The guards on duty smartly saluted their general officer. A bit surprised, the young officer guardedly enquired of him, “Thank you, sir. Who are you?” Sam replied, “Oh, I help soldiers like I just did, and in my spare time I command the division.”

How humane are some of the great men?

And some lighter way to express our annoyance from again agreat man. To a phone operator in the US, Nobel lauret Amartya Sen tried spelling his surname, without success. Finally he said, “S for somebody, E for everybody and N for nobody.” How these people retain their humour?

Most eminent persons like to hold forth. N. R. Narayana Murthy has an inviting approach: “Here is a point of view and I’m open to being challenged.” With old friends and acquaintances, he has a disarming style. The conversation commences from where it had been left at the last meeting even if it was a long time ago. Is it the reason that makes him a great manager entrepreneur?
