Dr. Kalam, we are proud of you!!

India has a President who is a saint, is serious about his position and one who delivers to his people. Here is a story that appeared today in HT
On May 26, when CBSE announced Class XII results for UP, Akhil’s world collapsed. The 17-year-old had aggregated 97% in maths, chemistry and computer science, but had got a mere 13 out of 70 in physics. Four days ago, CBSE corrected the mistake. Akhil had scored 55, and with the practical marks, 85 out of 100. And he has the President of India to thank.
At Rampur’s Dayawati Modi School, nobody believed Akhil’s marks. Principal immediately faxed CBSE’s Allahabad regional officer. There was no way his star student could have done so badly. However, there was no reply from CBSE. On June 2, Akhil with his father traveled to Allahabad to meet him personally. Before leaving, Anil Gupta wrote e-mails to Kalam, Congress chief, former Rajya Sabha deputy chair-person and former law minister, pleading with them to intervene. On June 11, Akhil received a letter from Rashtrapati Bhavan. It said his case had been forwarded to the HRD Ministry and the CBSE chairman. The letter carried the date June 4 - two days after Gupta’s e-mail. They were wrong.
On June 15, CBSE passed its verdict: there was nothing wrong with Akhil’s marks. With no option, the family was planning to go to court. Then came the news directly from the horse’s mouth - CBSE. CBSE acknowledged the mistake and changed Akhil’s marks. His final score stood at 90.8%. A Rashtrapati Bhavan official confirmed that Dr. Kalam had personally read Gupta’s e-mail and asked his staff to take it up. Said Akhil: “We knew that if there was one powerful person in India who would be concerned about my problem, it was President Kalam”
One more thing I would like to add here. The popularity of internet is increasing in India. It is becoming a necessity. Even a common man is realising it. The incident narrated above took place in an unknown town named Rampur(UP). I really admire the fighting attitude of Akhil. He did not give up like many. He dared to approach the highest authority of the country. He also tapped into the power and reach of the email medium. I wish all the executives in authority start responding to grievances and suggesstions of the common people.
Dr. Kalam, we’re all proud of you.

Unfortunately, in our great country politically, Rastrapati is nothing but a puppet of our Pradhan Mantri.

But Kalam Sahab is really kamal. Even as President he has inspired the whole of the student community. No other person has met with so large a population of students. Even if 0.1% follow his message, it will be a good contribution by him.I wish the new government could take the mission of PURA that he propounded. Basically it will change the face of the country.

Sirs,
Thanks for your valuable comments. But CBSE has still not done justice. I am confident to get above 95 in Physics (instead 85) & about 90 in English( instead of 78), if CBSE got copies reverifies/ revalues with it markimng Scheme.

Akhil,
It was great of you that you pursued your objective to the best possible level. My personal advice for you would be to look for the examinations ahead of you. There will be many in life. I know a case when even in IIT, the deserving candidate could not top as the professor had a liking for the student coming in second. I can only congratulate you on your brave fight against injustice. Face the world bravely and attain the highest goals no one else has ever achieved. Please feel free to share your achievements as and when it comes. Indra

Sirs,
Thanks for your Concern & Advise
The Medal for Topping the DAYAWATI MODI SCHOOL, RAMPUR in Class XII was given personally by Sri Pavnesh Kumar, Controller of Exams, CBSE, New Delhi as Chief Guest at School’s Annual Function .
However CBSE is taking still time to correct his mistakes. CBSE has neither given PASS CERTIFICATE, nor MERIT CERTIFICATE for CHEMISTRY till date & I am in receipt of only corrected Marks-sheet & my wait for their regret letter is unending.

Sir,
I have taken admission at BITS PILANI in BE ( Hons)- Mechanical. I could have got Electronics & Instrumentation but preferred Mechanical to that. 19 Board Toppers (1st Rankers) of different Boards including CBSE Topper from Delhi Region will be studying with me. Two of the Board Toppers & Many other high rankers have opted Mehanical at Pilani as their I preference. There are many more students coming after deserting NIT’s including AP & TN students preferred Pilani than to NIT-T or NIT-W.
I have given preference to the Insitute including its campus & I am feeling at Home here. I hope for the best.

my score in bitsat-06 is 396. which branches can I get in bits pilani?
Posted by: ankita at June 1, 2006 @ 1:22 pm
Hi all,
I would like to tell you one thing that BITS-Pilani is far better than any of NIT’s and other central universities !!!! As far i have been in BITS since last 2 years i know the culture here !!! i can assure you that placement and study both are having excellent base here in BITS. I m pursuing M.E. in Computer Science and also working as part of staff in CS deptt….
Eventhough u can see the current OUTLOOK ranking BITS-Pilani is in Sixth’s place in India!!!! Its really wonderfull to be here !!
For further studies like MS or MBA from IIM’s the repo of BITS is any time better than NIT’s and other institutes!!!
CUT-Off for CS would be around 360 and for any of BE brach would be 320 or something like that !!!
Before taking any decision just sit cool and think about it!!!
Bbye
STAY-Tuned …. querries can be mailed to me !!!
