On May 27, 2005, I made an entry ‘Confusion or Helplessness of Immigrants Technocrats in US’. I sent a copy of the same to the weekly ‘India West’, published from California. In its issue of June 17, 2005, India West has published the story as a feature ‘Engineers Without Borders’ on page A5.

POSCO to Invest $12 Bil. in India: Orissa is heading to become the largest hub to manufacture metals- steel and aluminum- the most consumed ones. POSCO, the world’s fifth-largest steel maker, is expected to sign a $12 billion investment deal with the state of Orissa, India, on June 22.

Chennai startup to build $100 thin client: Novatium Solutions, a Chennai-based startup is building a $100 (Rs 4,400) computer, which will take “computing to the next billion.

JVS Export bags award from Wal-Mart: Wal-Mart imports merchandise worth about 1.3 billion, though India is still to open its gate to the retail giant or for that matter for the retail sector.

India keeps the ball rolling at Paris Air Show. The recent Paris Air Show saw major orders from Indian carriers. In total, Indian carriers have placed orders - both firm and options - for 135 aircraft with Airbus so far, while Boeing has managed orders for only 20. In terms of list price of these aircraft, the orders translate into $15 billion for Airbus and $4 billion for Boeing. Is it not great news that shows the increasing influence of Indian economy in global scenario?
