Saturday in SanFrancisco

Saturday is as such for moving out in US. For us the Mansion Groves refurbishing work made me a necessity. You cant remain in a house that is fully open with all external windows and doorframes dismantled and noisy replacement operations going on in the premises.
Our first step was San Francisco State University where Rajesh spent almost 4 years. It was a holiday so there were no students. But I could feel the smell of the university. I likedthe place and the environment. While visiting this type of educational institute, I always go back to my college days and I feel like taking another birth with full knowledge of the present one and go for studying in some or many good universities.

And we went on to search for the Indian restaurant Gaylord. That was main destination. We wanted to take our lunch. Rajesh was all the time on phone with Shephali who was providing direction through cell phone from computer based route map. And finally we could reach Ghirardelli Square. It is beautifully located on the bay with a historical significance. At one time it was the home of world famous chocolate factory. Cable cars plying on the roads are the National landmarks of the city. However, the biggest shock of the day was still waiting for us. When we managed to reach on the third floor located Gaylord, we found it close. It remains open up to 1.30PM and it was already 3 pm when we had reached there.

‘Bhukhe Bajan Na Hohin Gopala’. We had to return. Anand drove through Lombard street that is known to be ‘the crookedest street in the world’ because of its eight sharp turns on a 40 degree slope. The turns known as switchbacks were built in the 1920s to allow traffic to descend the steep incline.
We returned through the Bay Bridge that connects San Francisco with Oakland. That was the third bridge on the bay that we have gone on till date. It was nice a nice outing with certain surprises and a lot of thrill of that steep driving. It was Anand on the driver’s seat, but I was always tense as a father.
Of course by the time, we entered the apartment, it was all ready with all the frames replaced with new ones with all accesories in place. Back in India we shall not be having the mindsets to leave the apartment with contractor’s workmen for so long. We don’t trust even if there is nothing to loose.
