CISCO - the love story that laid the company’s foundation

It was interesting to hear the story of the couple, that founded CISCO - one of the global giants in IT industry. Sandy Lerner and Leonard Bosack- both were in Stanford University’s computer department. Besides being the friends, they loved each other and wished to share their feelings and ideas even after the college hours from their rooms in hostels. Naturally the story relates to the period when they still were not married and not living together. And the idea of the black box came in their mind. They designed and built their black box for networking with each other through their computers. The black box worked. Whenever, they felt like, they connected the black box with their respective computers and shared their views. They kept the secret between the two. Once out from college, their entrepreneurship instinct laid the foundation of CISCO, perhaps the last portion of San Fran-cisco.

The bridge of Cisco represents the bridge between the two or for that matter the bridge to connect the whole of the world, to share the best of the whole of the humanity in any manner that one wants.

Unfortunately, they are no more with CISCO. Cisco has grown into a 30 billion dollar company. The bridge between them has broken. They are pursuing independent life and profession too. However, as an orthodox Indian, I wish, that the two to rebuild that bridge too.

p.s.

During my walk today, a young man in his car stopped me on Tasman Road and asked me the location of Ciscos building number 300. I couldnt help him. Why cant Cisco put a board at each gate showing the locations of its buildingsin this CISCO complex.

For Indian readers some links that has appeared in US media.
