Failures of Indian Cricketers- a Typical Indian Phenomenon

Durban mishap where the Indian team couldn’t even reach a total of 100 has created a brawl of sort. Even parliamentarians are angry and want some actions. Some want to remove the coach, some want to introduce a policy of ‘no play, no pay’. I personally feel people must be decent enough to avoid specific names. President, BCCI has yielded to the political pressure. Vengsarkar, one time captain and presently the chief selector, is going to South Africa to tell the players the feelings of the people in India.
Why should the board keep on paying these cricketers huge money in millions, more than even the chief executives of many companies? But the payment by the board must be meager one compared to the other income of the players just if they play some outstanding matches. Besides the money, many of these players have become heroes, celebrity of page 3 overnight. Did you see the fan crowd outside the parlour of Ranchi where Dhoni had his hair cut recently? And then you watch the type of ads Dhoni is doing these days. Perhaps his performance as a model is better than as a cricketer. He has everything today that he could have never dreamt of. Naturally it must be very difficult to keep the focus under the circumstances. At least we had a lot of expectation from Sahwag and Dhoni and for that matter from the most of the crickets coming from ordinary family.
I have some questions. Why should the parliamentarians talk of an issue on which they don’t prove themselves example to the sensible people of the country?
Idea must be to make them focused on the game and take every game as a first time opportunity to prove. Perhaps the team needs some strong leadership who had make them work hard cohesively. All the Indian players individually performed wonderful on many occasion. But the team doesn’t perform consistently. They may not be bad but others are better as team.
Though it is unfortunate and derogatory too. But the history of sports persons and sports in India is full of similar inconsistent performance. They forget after coming in national team that they are to win the world. It happens even with industrial houses. They very well grow to be one in first five in India, but don’t succeed to be in top five of the global players with some exceptions.
