Red Terror: Rajdhani under Siege
Is India moving towards a disaster? What must be the level of mental stresses of hundreds of passengers of Bhubaneswar-Delhi Rajdhani, when the anti-establishment mob would have started damaging the train to take its control? What must be the nightmare for the relatives and acquaintances who would have seen them off at Bhubaneswar railway station few hours ago? And what must be the reaction of the millions who watched the siege live on small screen? How daring are these followers of Naxalism or Maoism, for that matter any group with a protective shield of some leaders?
Democracy demand discipline, law and order. Does it accommodate such violent way to achieve one’s goal? The growth of red terror is result of shear inefficiency of the state governments over the years that is responsible for law and order and the failure of the centre to monitor and control it.
Over the years some frustrated and failed but intelligent persons found the illiterate young men and women, many in their teens, of the deprived classes as the easy prey to pervert their mind to get a utopia for them. They damage schools and railway stations, kill innocent children and women, and extort to get the most sophisticated arms. One can easily understand that after seeing the faces of those who constitute the red army on TV screen. And unfortunately till now the government and political parties have not taken the red terror seriously. There is hardly any consensus on the action plans and sincerity in executing them to curb this terror among the rulers of different states. And as it seems with no alternative left, the country would have to decide to hand over the task to the defence forces. And with so much of lethargy in the state police force, the sooner it is done, the better it will be for the country.
Unfortunately, it has been the lack of developmental politics over the years that has accentuated and strengthened these terrorists. With lack of quality value based universal education and healthcare among the people all over the country, the terrorists are getting the support of the deprived and innocent people without much effort. By supporting the local causes and with some humane assistance, the terrorists get looked upon as the offspring of Robin hoods.
As the first thing, all the state governments and centre must understand now the seriousness of this red terror menace and make it a priority number one to carry out the developments to grow by speeding up its GDP goal.
Let every citizen understand and agree that nothing against the constitution can be tolerated. But let all who matter hear clearly the warnings of impending disaster from Rajdhani if the red terror is not curbed.

PS:
What sort of attention the Maoist problem requires? Can troops make it happen? Answer may be complex, but India must go for one, and fast enough.

Sarvesh Upadhyay commented on your note “Rajdhani under Siege”:
“It is high time Man Mohan should stop giving hyped statement and start doing something concrete. Centre always blames states for red terror without supporting them. Centre had right oportunity to wipe out Naxalism from Jharkhand as it was under Centre rule but they couldn’t.
Kameshwar Baitha was one of the prime catch for Rohtas police but today he ferries from Jail to Parliament as he won Palamu parliament seat on JMM.
Chidambaram has not made any impact which can show he tackled naxalites better than his predecessor.”
